Woven Wood Shades and Roman Shades in Las Vegas

When a roller shade feels too plain. Woven woods and Roman shades bring what a flat roller can't: natural texture, soft folds and the finished look of a custom-designed room. At Smart Blinds + Shades, we design, measure and install custom woven wood shades and fabric Roman shades for homes in Summerlin, Henderson, The Ridges, MacDonald Highlands and across the Las Vegas Valley. We work with Hunter Douglas, Alta and Made-in-USA brands, and every shade is available cordless or motorized.

More Texture Than a Roller Shade

A roller shade does its job, but it can read flat in a room full of stone, plaster and custom millwork. A woven wood or Roman shade adds depth. The weave catches the light, the folds add shadow and softness, and a matching cornice valance gives the window a tailored, built-in finish. This Summerlin sitting room shows the difference: the shade is part of the design, not just a window covering. We bring full-size samples so you can see the texture in your own light.

Natural Woven Wood Shades

Woven wood shades are made from bamboo, grasses, reeds and jute, so every shade has a slight variation that shows the material is real. Tighter weaves feel calm and tailored, and open weaves glow when the sun comes through. They pair beautifully with white oak, warm neutrals and the desert palette of many Summerlin and Red Rock Country Club homes. We carry woven woods from Hunter Douglas, Alta and Made-in-USA brands, so we can match the weave, color and price to each room.

Premium Handwoven Natural Shades

For clients who want something truly special, we offer premium handwoven natural shades. The collection ranges from fine grassweaves and papyrus to linen-like textures, made in soft Roman folds to your exact window size. They are a favorite for arched openings, entry windows and primary suites where the shade becomes part of the architecture. We help you narrow a large collection down to a few weaves that suit your home, your light and the look you want.

Roman Shade Styles

Every Roman shade starts with a fold style, and the style sets the mood of the room. These are the three most standard Roman styles we make. Each one is sewn to your exact window size in the fabric you choose, from natural linen to bold patterns, with a choice of liner, available cordless or motorized. We bring samples of each fold to your consultation, so you can see how each one looks raised and lowered in your own window.

Relaxed and Patterned Roman Shades

Fabric Roman shades give a window the softness of drapery with the clean lines of a shade. A relaxed Roman has a gentle curve at the bottom that feels casual and elegant, softer than a crisp, tailored Roman. Patterned fabrics, like the geometric print in this Las Vegas dining room, turn a single window into a focal point, while solids and textured weaves keep the look quiet. Each shade is sewn to your measurements, with banding and trim options for a finished, custom look.

Linen Roman Shades

Linen is the fabric most clients picture when they think of a Roman shade, and for good reason. Its slubbed texture and soft drape bring warmth without feeling heavy, and it filters bright Las Vegas light into a gentle glow. Linen and linen-look fabrics work in family rooms, kitchens and bedrooms, and a pair of matching shades ties a wall of windows together, as in this family room. We'll show you natural linens alongside performance blends that hold their shape and color longer in strong sun.

Liner Options for More Light Control

Both woven woods and Roman shades come with a choice of liner: no liner, light filtering or room darkening, so you have more light control. With no liner, you get the full texture and glow of the material. A light-filtering liner adds privacy while keeping the room bright. A room-darkening liner is the choice for bedrooms and media rooms. On certain brands, woven woods can also have independent liners that operate separately from the shade, giving you texture by day and privacy or darkness when you want it.

Woven and Roman Shades, Available Cordless or Motorized

A tailored look shouldn't come with dangling cords. Woven woods and Roman shades are available cordless or motorized. Without cords, windows look cleaner and are safer for children and pets. Motorized shades go further: they raise and lower at the touch of a button, by voice or on a schedule, and they work with Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home. They're ideal for tall windows and rooms you want to control all at once, like this dining room at The Ridges. Every installation is backed by our 90-day installation guarantee.

Layering with Drapery, and Care in Desert Sun

For the most finished look, layer a woven or Roman shade under drapery. The shade handles daily light and privacy, and the panels add height, softness and color. We design both together so the textures and colors work as one plan. Las Vegas sun is hard on natural fibers, and strong UV can lighten woven woods and fabrics over time, especially on south and west windows. A liner helps protect the shade. Dust gently with a soft brush and keep shades dry to avoid water spots.

Woven Woods and Roman Shades FAQ

Can I add a liner to woven wood or Roman shades?

Yes. Both woven woods and Roman shades come with a choice of liner: no liner, light filtering or room darkening, so you have more light control. On certain brands, woven woods can also have independent liners that operate separately from the shade, giving you texture by day and privacy or darkness when you want it.

What's the difference between woven wood shades and Roman shades?

Woven wood shades are made from natural materials like bamboo, grasses, reeds and jute. Roman shades are sewn from fabric, such as linen, solids or patterns, and fold into flat or relaxed pleats. Both give more texture and a more tailored look than a plain roller shade.

What Roman shade styles are available?

The three most standard Roman styles are knife pleat, with crisp, tailored horizontal pleats; hobbled, with soft cascading folds that stay layered even when lowered; and flat, with smooth fabric that folds neatly as it rises. Relaxed Roman shades and specialty styles are also available.

Can woven wood and Roman shades be motorized?

Yes. Both are available cordless or motorized. Motorized shades run by remote, app, voice or schedule and work with Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home.

Will woven woods and Roman shades fade in the Las Vegas sun?

Natural fibers and fabrics can lighten over time with strong UV, especially on south and west windows. A liner helps protect the shade, and we can recommend weaves and fabrics that hold up well in desert sun.
